Synopsis
You awake one day, realizing there's much more to life than it currently offers. Having spent 2 years sulking over lost love, you finally move forward to pursue a different life. Which, through choices and opportunities, will lead you down a path you never could have imagined.

Leap of Faith is a story about bonding through friendship and romance, and the journey through life in early adulthood. It keeps a comedic tone, while still at times addressing serious issues that arise along the way.

Features
Chapter 1 consists of close to 500 stills and animations in full 1920x1080 resoultion, with about 5000 lines of source and dialogue, using RenPy as engine, accompanied by a fully licensed soundtrack.
In addition to the normal VN choice menus, you will have to interract with your phone as a tool to explore opportunities, or even discover them. This game does not intend to offer you every experience in it by advancing through dialogue alone.

Dev Diary, 16th of October, 2020
It's been another week with me pouring out renders. Unfortunately Lexi takes about 40% more time to render than any other character in the story, so it's a slow and steady progress. I don't notice it much when it's 50 or 100 story renders. But when we're talking 1000+ animation frames it adds up, when each render takes 10 minutes longer.

Currently I'm at 741 animated renders and 219 static ones. About 2/3rd of the Lexi route is finished, and I've shifted my attention to the Sneak Peek scene - which I hope you'll get a kick out of. :slight_smile: Hopefully I'll have it finished by next Friday.

Chapter 4 and it's three part split.
After having finished Chapter 3 and looking more closely at the followup, I realized that there were a whole lot of work and rendering hours needed for Chapter 4.

And because of the amount of work that would go into every girl - having the choice to romance them at roughly at the same time in the story - it would be hard to give a decent story feel to an update if I went by the normal day-by-day update, and therefor decided to go by a girl-by-girl update instead.

The most natural question as a reader I would imagine is: 'Should I play it now, or wait until all the parts are done?'

I have put a lot of work into making this chapter evolve as the different parts are released. That means part two and three will even add to existing scenes and dialogues will be expanded and tweaked. For this part I have intentionally held back parts of the story itself to give you added bits and pieces if you come back and read for the two last parts.

The 'sudden jump' to the end of this update leave a huge spot for me to fill, and the intro scenes to the final romancing with both Cece and Stephanie isn't just made to create a certain feel, they are meant to have an element of uncertainty - ie, that things are not 100% sure to turn out well - even though in this update they are pretty much smooth sailing.

So, if you are still on the fence on whether to play through this update or not, it's really up to you.

But for me, holding back an update for 5 months would be near dev suicide. But more importantly, causing you to loose touch with the main characters in the story - almost forgetting who they are - was not something I wanted to do.

Dev Diary, 9th of October, 2020
Happy friday, once again.

I hope you all have had a chance to play through the first part of Chapter 4, and that you enjoyed it.

The first week after an update will always have a very unflattering render count, but basically I've just been posing stills and animations, and let my computer pour them out. So, currently we're at 115 static renders and 260 animated ones. That's roughly 1/3 of the Lexi path done, and I'm very happy about the progress being made.

For next week, my main focus will be rendering animations. Normally I render animations at night and stills during the day, but if I were to do so on the animation that is currently rendering, it will take 2,5 weeks to finish - which is way too long.

On a positive note, that gives me free hands to work on dialogue and scripting, as it's the only thing I can do simultaneously to rendering on my dusty old dinosaur. :)

The weird dev route.
Whenever I set up a scene I check for possibilities to do something special in it, to avoid it being very static. So when I sat Lexi down in front of a piano every part of me said 'she should play that piano'.

And that is basically why I do all of these 'extra effort weird things' that has not got anything to do with the story itself. But I still hope you'll enjoy it.

Oh shit. Only 2 weeks to go. No strike that, it's a bit over a week until the testers want their copy.

There's still a whole lot to do, and I'm slightly behind where I would have preferred to be right now. The positive is that it's scripting and dialogue, where I can catch up by putting in some extra effort this weekend.

In addition to that I have some rendering to do. There's two scenes I need a few more renders for, and one full scene in addition to that. And then there's the one special animation I'm working on. And did I mention it's only 2 weeks to go? :)

Currently I'm at 858 static renders and 4077 frames of animation. We should get closer to 1000 static renders by release, which is about the same as chapter 3.

I've also added the posibility to name saves, so for those of you that are playing multiple routes should have a bit of an easier time managing those.

That's it for this update. As usual, I hope you're all faring well and enjoy your weekend.

First of all I thought I'd adress some rumors which seems to have popped up and caught hold.

1. Drifty stole DPC's phone system.
Although it's no secret that Acting Lessons was a big inspiration for me taking the jump to actually get my story on the renpy platform - there was no phone in Acting Lessons. I did not get a chance to play Being A Dik (then currently being 3 episodes long, with a different phone than now) until the last few weeks before I released Chapter 1 of my own story. I did like his idea of his Character Bios app, and borrowed that - nothing else or the mechanics behind the phone. Funnily enough, it's probably the least used app on the in game phone in LoF, and I would like to replace it with a much more visual representation of which 'path' you're on instead. And, am I the only one that keeps hitting 'b' in BaDik - to no avail? :p I did not steal his phone idea!

Dev Diary, 4th of September, 2020
Another week of steady progress, where my computer has been rendering none stop. Minus the one night where Windows quit rendering to update itself. And minus another night where Windows reset to show me the new 'Microsoft Edge'-browser that I uninstalled right after. Thank you Microsoft.

Looking at render count, we're now at 593 static renders, and 2.796 frames. That is 1 minute and 18 seconds of animation in total. And from my script, there's only 1 animation scene left to do.

When I'm looking my cheat sheet of things to do, it's the party scene, the pre party/alternative Steph reunion scene, the bonus scene you will get if you get 'Cece autograph', and the Stephanie ending which I've already started on. Got to show some love for those who want to dance with the devil too.

In addition to normal scenes, there's of course all the Nuke events, phone scripting, etc. This week I will also start assembling the sound effects that's needed.

Finally, I would like to thank you for staying as Patreon for yet another month. Very few quit, which is a very nice gesture as I know a lot of you move your support between several artists. A big part of your support for this month will be put aside to save up for much needed hardware that will make my job making this game much easier and faster.

Dev Diary, 8th of August, 2020
Time for a progress report again. :)

As I did a lot of pose-work last week, this week has been almost a none stop render marathon, focusing a bit more on animations than usual, due to the 60fps animations that are in ch4.

I've also done a lot of work on the scenes, but they do take a bit of time to gnaw through. Mainly because they all are together and enjoying themselves, so there's a lot of people to focus on in every scene.

I've also completed the first "mini-roam" scene. This is not a full fledged roam-game-type of scene, but closer to that inside the airplane - with you having more choice of what you are going to do/who to speak with/move around to, with different things going on depending on who you talk to and in which order - and your earlier actions in the game.

Render count is at 143 static renders, and 608 animated frames.

Normally I would release the sneak peak 2 weeks after the last chapter, but because of the logistical nightmare that is Chapter 4, I still haven't quite decided which scene will be the sneak peak yet, but should have it ready soon.

Nothing more to add this week, but to wish you all a nice weekend. Oh, and say hi to Holly up there. You might remember her from the Chapter 3 bonus scene.

First Chapter 4 Dev Diary.

As you might know, I had planned a week vacation after the release of Chapter 3, but it's hard to keep my hands off the project when I enjoy doing it so much.

This week has mostly been scripting the routes of Lexi/Cece, and posing animations. Seeing as Cece has quite a healthy lead in the polls, I have put the most work into her scene. Knowing of her popularity, I also know that I have to get it 100% right. After all it's not a FWB scene with Robin or Kira, or some hastily sex with the ex.

To be honest, I almost bit over more than I could chew with this one. If you look at the picture above, there's a lot going on in addition the the body movements. I wanted the clothing to be so light it reacts to even the smallest breath of air, and in the background (not visible in the photo) is a pool with moving water.

I spent a total of 3 days posing the animation, more or less frustrated by the things I haven't learned in Daz studio yet. But I think I finally nailed it, and I'm very happy with the result. Watching a test-scene I put together with the visuals/audio/dialogue - it was really powerful.

The numbers are not very flattering this week due to my focus on getting the animation-posing right, but at least I've started. 50 static renders and 184 animated frames.

Leap of Faith - Chapter 4. The Cece vs. Lexi shootout.
I've been thinking a lot about progressing with Chapter 4, and it will be huge. In fact, so huge that if I were to make it all in one go, it would probably have been released around Christmas. Because of this, I've decided to make Chapter 4 in three parts - focusing on different girls in each of them.

LoF Ch4 - The Lexi vs. Cece shootout.
I've been thinking a lot about progressing with Chapter 4, and it will be huge. In fact, so huge that if I were to make it all in one go, it would probably be released around christmas - which is way to long. Because of this, I've decided to make Chapter 4 in three parts - focusing on different girls in each of them.

Option 1 - Cece and Stephanie
Option 2 - Lexi and Linda
Lastly - Robin and Kira + expanding/finishing story elements + cliffhanger
Ch4 won't feel complete until all the three parts are done, but you will at least get more regular updates.

This poll decides which of the girls I will focus on first. Either Cece/Steph or Lexi/Linda. All patreons starting from the lowest tier can vote. A seperate poll will be available for $10 and up tiers, and a third for the $30 and up tiers. Feel free to vote in several if you are higher tier to use your double/triple vote.

The poll closes on August 1st.

Making Chapter 3 has been a very weird experience. For almost 2 months, I did nothing more than render and scripting the dialogue. So I never had a chance to see if I had captured the feeling I wanted you to get from it.

But yesterday I played through the chapter for the first time, and I'm very happy by the way it turned out.

Current status is 947 static renders, 2866 animated frames in 11 animations, 17 new songs, around 6000 lines of scripting/dialogue, and about 70-90 minutes of gametime according to my relaxed playthrough.

Only a few things remain, so the deadline of next friday is perfect.

rescripting nuke, adding other's nukes and nuke comments
text additions for the character texts/bios
endscreen scripting
the bonus scene (about 35 renders)
one additional scene I will add if I have enough time (also about 35 renders)
1 new animation
proofreading
beta testing
Next week there won't be a Dev Diary, but I hope I will see you all in some form or another on discord or wherever for the release of the game. I can't wait to show you. :)

Weekly update, and I hope you're all doing good.

It's been a very hectic week, finalizing the release date announcement trailer, doing a lot of renders, and being Dev of the Week at the Lewd Gamers Paradise discord (I suspect that's something I can thank a few of you guys for). :)

Current render count is at 737 stills and 1938 animated. Already surpassing the previous chapters that had about 650 renders each.

I'm still in the midst of doing that big scene I mentioned last week. It's taken the whole week, and I still have around 50 renders to do for that scene alone before starting the 3 last scenes after that. Needless to say, I need those three weeks to release date.

Nothing much else to add for now. And no matter if you're on vacation, out and about, or in isolation - have a nice weekend.

Oh, and thank you for spreading the video. It popped up on lots of discord servers before I could even react.

And before you had time to react, it was Friday again...

This week has been all about rendering. A whole lot. And adding about 1000 lines of dialogue.

Total render count for Chapter 3 is now at 412 stills and 1288 animated ones. That's a 533 render increase this week. Honestly, I don't think it's possible for me to top that with my current setup (averaging 3.17 renders pr. hour for a full week). At least it should put me up there with the best of them (not that I'm comparing Dik's that is) :)

I've also finalized the music licensing from a very talented woman; which from Ch4 and onwards will be the singing voice of Lexi.

...and about that picture up there. She may not be loved by everyone, but she sure is good looking.

It is still too early to give a release date, but I'm aiming towards being able to take a week summer holiday after it's out - not that I really ever take a break from the story, but the rendering part.

Lastly, if you're reading this because it's leaked to a site distributing my game in one form or another, you're awesome too. :)

Dev Diary 12th of June, 2020
This is going to be one of those boring updates with no pictures and just a bit of info. I'll give you something visual next week though. Promise. :)

I've been doing some research of how to progress into Chapter 4 and some prepwork for it. So the render amount increase is a bit lower than usual this week, but I should be right on track to push a bit extra next week.

So far, we're counting 251 stills and 916 animated ones. I've also posed the mother of all animations in 60fps. Atleast my computer won't run out of things to do when I'm not actively sitting in front of it.

When it comes to dialogue, I'm about 1/3 done. Other scripting, adjusting, eastereggs, etc, I do at the very end when rendering is getting close to finished.

I've set myself a release date, but it's way to early to annouce it. Hopefully I will be able to before too long.

That's another week gone, and I hope you all enjoyed the Sneak Peak for Chapter 3. (if you didn't see it, you can find it here)

The airport was absolutely awful to render. I don't know what measurement Daz Studio uses, but normally scenes has around 5.000-10.000 diameter size. The airport had 240.000. Not bad for an 8 year old computer.

Total render count is 169 stills and 536 animated frames (even when not counting the 196 i scrapped). And don't worry about me pouring a lot of work into this. After all, my computer is doing most of the work. I don't think it's been idle since some time in january.

I've made 4 scenes in total, but there's a whole lot left to do - including path-scenes. You won't be able to see all content in one playthrough, because of choice only scenes/paths.

But enough chatting for now, back to work. :p

Quick update from me, so you can go rest your F5 finger for a bit. :)

Been a busy week with the release of chapter 2, bugfixes, and starting anew on chapter 3, but things are progressing nicely. I have planned out/finetuned the script for chapter 3 (which I am very happy with by the way), picked out some songs and started the rendering marathon.

So far counting 77 stills and 263 animated frames. Oh, and for some reason I used the "out of the box" Linda model, when I put so much work into customizing her. Why? I have no idea. Anyway, here is the real Linda.

Leap of Faith V0.2.2c update
This release contains the bugfixes from the V0.2.1c (Chapter 2 first release version). As far as I could see, there should be no need to replay any content, though if you want to be 100% sure, you might want to load a Chapter 1 end screen save, go back one screen and play it through again from there.

Changelog:

Fixed Linda's 'End conversation' button from remaining after texting her in the morning before the dance.
Added a volume slider for the effect/background sound channel for those playing without sound (remember to activate this in preferences by re-muting on first load if you are playing without sound).
Added missing picture in the bunny dance flex end.
Fixed endscreen bug that added options missed when fast forwarding.
Added a 'brake' to the Nüke welcome screen when fast forwarding.
Misc gui changes to make the main menu elements have the same appearance and prevent overlapping.
Typo's.
Recognized but on hold for Chapter 3:

Nüke comments screen limiting comments view. The app will receive an overhaul for Chapter 3.
