I've been playtesting and polishing the game and the PCs are rendering animations.

16 animations remain in the render queue.

The speed right now is ~8 animations per week. A few demanding animations are left in the queue and some easy ones as well.

Based on this, it looks like beta testing will start in late October/early November.

Beta testing is allotted 2 weeks, but if great results are achieved earlier than that, the release date will be earlier too.

November is going to be the month of release, but at what date I can't say accurately yet.

Next Friday, I will post a preliminary changelog for Episode 6.

This week I've been coding and polishing the episode while the PCs render animations and static renders.

Approximately 50 static renders and 25 animations remain in the render queue.

Some of the animations are more demanding to render than others, meaning that the number of frames per animation and render speed per frame vary.

It's too early to try and predict the remaining time accurately, I have a few demanding animations left in the queue and also some faster ones to render.

I estimate that we're waiting for something like 2000-3000 animation frames to render in total.

I have plenty of things to do while waiting. This week I've been putting together the remaining free roam events and they are now playable.

The next week will be spent on playtesting the episode thoroughly, making sure everything I want in the episode is there and that the content is polished.

I have a bit of content left to produce for the phone and the free roam events, but not a lot.

The final few percent of every update, or any project really, are the ones that take the longest time. But rest assured that every day we're one day closer to the release of "Episode 6 - Damage control".

Status update Episode 6


This week I've mostly been writing, polishing the game and coding while letting the PCs render the queue. I've posed some animations and static renders as well, so it's moving forward in all areas.

I'm almost finished writing, I have some phone content left and material for two free roam events.

2879 renders and 116 animations are complete.

The queue has 125 renders and 37 animations; meaning we're currently at 3004 renders and 153 animations for this update when everything has rendered.

I will be focusing on posing art next week. I have roughly 10-15 animations left to pose along with 150-300 static renders.

After I have posed everything I'll try to estimate the remaining render time. When all art is posed and I have to wait for it to render, I will playtest and polish the game myself. After that beta testing and proofreading will start, a process that takes approximately two weeks. Given the size and content of the episode, two weeks will likely be needed.

I haven't checked the file size of the game for this episode until now, and the zip file of the full download is currently 10.4 GB. I don't think it will be more than 11 GB, but that's the approximate space you will need for the game upon release (plus space for extracting the files of course).

Status update Episode 6


This week I've been working on art, posing static renders and animations.

The current completed render count is 2641 renders and 108 animations.

I have a queue consisting of 305 renders and 35 animations.

When the queue is complete, it totals to 2946 renders and 143 animations.

The static renders are coming along nicely. I have 8 scenes and 2 free roam events left to pose renders for; some of these scenes are partially complete.

I estimate the remaining number of static renders to pose to be somewhere between 200-400.

When it comes to animations I have approximately 20-30 more to pose; one and a half lewd scene remains.

As you can see from this, there's quite some render time left (55-65 animations + 505-705 static renders).

I will focus on coding/writing the next week while the PCs render the art in the queue.

Thanks to all of you for your support! I can't believe we are over 8000 patrons in the community now. That's insane!

As a milestone reward, I want to share a couple of previews from episode 6.

I hope they still your hunger for the episode a while longer.

Status update Episode 6

I've done a fair deal of everything this past week. It started out with a few days of coding and I almost finished a new feature that I've been working hard on.

Actually, there's more than one new feature this episode, but that's something I'll leave you to discover.

I've moved on to writing and posing static renders and animations again. I need to get back to focus on writing dialogue this upcoming week to be able to have material to pose for soon.

I still have plenty of animations left to do and dialogue and static renders are almost neck and neck. It's a stressful period right now, but I'll pull through in time.

This is the current render and animation count:

1714 static renders + 68 animations

Some other nice preliminary stats for the episode, there will be at least:

-15 new licensed songs

-10 new CC0 songs

In poll news, there's an ongoing poll for "Special renders: Main girl". At the moment, it's a split poll where Sage is in the lead in the $10 poll and Isabella is in the lead in the other polls.

When tallied, Isabella is in the overall lead. The poll ends next week, so I'll report the results in the next status update.

Status update + Beach fun series - Jade

This week I've mostly been coding and working on GUI design. I can't spoil what it is that I'm working very hard on, but expect some new features starting in the next episode.
I'm creating something that will take a few weeks to fully complete, but once it's complete it will be future-proof and only need tweaking.
So, I will mostly pose animations and focus on writing code in the upcoming weeks.
My PCs are busy rendering animations (pretty long ones right now) while I spend time coding.
The current status of static renders and animations is as follows:
1550 static renders and 62 animations are complete.
I've playtested what I have to play so far and it's about 3 hours worth of content for one thorough playthrough, but I'm far from finished.
In poll news, the winning option in the cosmetic poll for Josy was option 1. It will be featured in episode 6.

7000 patrons! Beach fun special render series
Thank you all for your support!
It's been overwhelming and I feel that I haven't taken the time to thank all of you enough for helping me reach this milestone.

Patch news
I had to release another patch today, since a bug was introduced in v0.5.1 that affected the English mini-games and could potentially cause a crash when cheating.

v0.5.2 includes the bug fix and it's hopefully, unless something worth patching is encountered, the last patch before v0.6.0.

It's a shame that the bug wasn't spotted before v0.5.1 was released, but these things happen and I'm happy that players reported it so it could be fixed for both Steam and Patreon versions.

Other news
Some happy news to go along with this post is that the first poll for Episode 6 will start later today. It's a cosmetic poll for Isabella.

And tomorrow, I'm releasing the walkthrough to the $15 tier.

I'll get back to my regular status updates when I truly can put bug-fixes and episode 5 release work behind me and fully focus on developing episode 6.

Post-release information
Thank you all for your generous support and feedback!

I've been busy correcting the bugs/typos you've found, writing the walkthrough and started episode 6 development.

I wanted to address a few common questions that I've gotten this last week.

My answers to these questions are:

Steam gets full seasons, not individual episodes.
Steam saves aren't compatible with the Patreon version, vice versa.
You can't patch the Steam version, you will get errors.
The Steam walkthrough, pressing 'g' key version, is exclusive to Steam during development.
The walkthrough will be released sometime during June. I'm currently trying to optimize the development by getting episode 6 up and rolling, render-wise, and finding time to write the walkthrough.

Please, keep reporting any bugs or typos you find. I appreciate it very much and I rather hear a report too many times than no time at all.

Next Friday, $5 tier patrons get access to the patch to upgrade their game from v0.4.0/v0.4.1/v0.4.2 to v0.5.0. If you don't have any of those versions, you will need to get the game from the $10 tier and then you can patch the game in the future. I can't release the full game for the $5 tier because of Steam rules.
After all tiers have gotten access to v0.5.0 the polls for episode 6 will start.

Episode 5 - Release day announcement
Beta testing and proofreading have been going well. The team has been working hard to further polish the game.
Right now, I feel the game is in a state that is polished enough for a public release.
I still need to make a final build and do some final preparations, but I'm really happy to be able to announce the release dates for:

Episode 5 - HOTheaded
+$25 tiers - Friday, May 29
+$10 tiers - Monday, June 1
+$5 tiers - Friday, June 12 (Patch only, need v0.4.0/v0.4.1/v0.4.2 base game)

And a third and final time, I like to remind those of you who want to patch the game to download a clean copy of the game before Friday. Servers are going to be very busy as many want to download the game at once. You will save yourself some waiting time by preparing early for the release.
Here is the link to the latest version (v0.4.2) that you can patch to v0.5.0 on Friday.
Or you can download the entire game all at once (~8.3GB).

Status update Episode 5


Beta testing is on-going.

A release date will be posted when I know more about the workload needed to fix bugs etc.

If you haven't prepared for patching your game, I strongly advise you to do it soon, to make release day easier for you.

Download the full game here if you need it.

Please note, modified game versions or even extracted ones won't work with patching. You will get errors when playing the game if there's anything in the folders that's not supposed to be there.

You can fix it by downloading a clean release before patching or by downloading the full game on release.

Status update Episode 5

I promised a preliminary changelog for Episode 5 this week and here it is.
Please note, that it is subject to change after further testing.

Changelog v0.5.0
Added Episode 5 that includes

2456 renders
157 animations
25 songs
18 sound effects
Added an icon to indicate if a Cluck in Rooster is new.
Fixed a bug where you could repeatedly play guitar in Isabella's home during her free-roam event in Episode 4.
You can now use whitespace (space) in the save names.
Updated the Chat and Swyper apps chat interface.
When you unlock new gallery pictures in Swyper, the main menu of Swyper will show indicators for it.
Swapped the end credits for a code-based variant.
Changed the backend calculation of unlocked renders.
Corrected typos
Beta testing and proofreading will likely start sometime next week and it will take a while. I'm waiting for one final animation to render and I have a bit of polishing left before beta can start. When I get a grasp of how long it will take, I will have a release date ready for you.

Status update Episode 5

I spent the week posing statics, writing dialogue, coding script, polishing the game, and more. I estimate that rendering will be completed by the end of next week. I will be spending the next week playtesting and further polishing the update while filling in the gaps missing content.

Scenes left to write and produce art for: 1
Static renders left to produce: Less than 100
Animations left to produce: 0. Waiting for the animation queue to complete.
Implement Replay gallery and rewards (One scene + testing left)
Mini-game tutorials
Music and sound effects for 2 scenes remain.
Playtest and Quality control (This is the current bottleneck.)
This is going to be a meaty update. I will reveal a preliminary Changelog next week. I was aiming to make the update smaller, but kept packing it with content because I wanted more. Expect the full game (Episodes 1-5) to be ~8.3 GB in size. The patch will be ~2-2.5 GB.
Information regarding the release
I would like to take this moment to give all of you a heads-up before release day.

During the release of the last episode, the distribution was chaotic for me due to the high demand. Download links kept hitting the max limit of downloads for Google drive, consequently resulting in a 24-hour cooldown on my account, and the binary was too big to download using a free MEGA account.

This time it will be easier to avoid these issues since there's a possibility to just download a smaller patch instead of the whole package. This smaller patch can be downloaded through MEGA without a paid account.

If you want to be prepared to download the game as fast as possible on release, please make sure that you have an unmodified Patreon version (v0.4.0, v0.4.1 or v0.4.2) downloaded before the release day.
Then you just have to download the patch and add its content to the "game/" directory with the .rpa files and you can start playing faster.

If this is what you want to do, please prepare for it sooner rather than later. Here is a link to the latest version (v0.4.2), if you need it.

You can, of course, download the big binary too (no patching needed), but your download will be a bit slower since many want to download the game at the same time.

I'll do my best to assist you with any issues during release and I hope you'll have patience with me and the servers during that time.

Status update Episode 5

Two weeks ago I made a bullet point list for you, with the tasks that remain before beta testing and proofreading.

Here's an updated version of it.

Scenes left to write and produce art for: 4
Static renders left to produce: 100-200
Animations left to produce: 1 + waiting for the current animation queue to complete.
Writing and adding Bios to the code
Writing Episode 5 ending report
Implement Replay gallery and rewards (almost done)
Some mini-game code
Music and sound effects have been added to ~95% of the episode.
Playtest and Quality control
I'm sure many of you are wondering if the release is in May or June.

It's hard for me to say which it is, right now. The final percentages of any project are the ones that take the longest time to complete.

I'm feeling fairly sure that beta testing (my group of private testers) and proofreading will start in May.

When it starts and I have a grasp of the workload for the bugs they find, I will announce the public release dates.
